marin elise artMarin Hein is a freelance artist and writer living in Charleston, South Carolina. She possesses a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Biola University in Drawing and Illustration. She is most fond of using traditional mediums such as charcoal and pencils, while still dabbling in digital formats. Using these methods and others, her work explores feelings of nostalgia and tension, liminal spaces and environmental art, visual storytelling, and portraits both macabre and playful. Most recently she completed her senior thesis, a four and a half minute charcoal animation with over 1200 individual drawings. She enjoys creating work that can have a dual effect of discomforting to some and comforting to others. And she thinks observing which response triggers for which people is far more interesting than anything she alone could draw.
